I don’t think Paul had raining fire down upon the Earth in mind when he reminded the Corinthian church of how God’s values often upend the values of man. In fact, as far as I can tell, man’s use of God to justify fire has always served man.

I don’t want you to get the wrong idea. I really liked this story. It was suggestive in some very interesting ways. I’m still chewing on it.
